What is it about musical theatre that makes you want to use it to tell stories?
Well, first and foremost, Jim and Wendy are musicians...since they were both toddlers. They've been on stages all of their lives and no matter what you're doing, if it's playing an instrument or standing on risers or dancing, it's ALL acting. Musical Theater allows you to take risks and to be more fluid with your music. Music reaches people like nothing else, and then you add your own vision of costumes, make up, and lighting....it's euphoric for us and the audience!
How do you feel about not being able to make it in person to Ediinburgh? Will the audience lose or gain anything by watching a recording?
We didn't find out about the Edfringe opportunity until it was way too late to consider going in person. The goal of the live show in December 2022 was to have this awesome video to show everyone and having the online/on demand option was perfect for us. We feel that audiences choosing to watch an online presentation already have opened up their mind to a recorded performance and we're grateful for that leniency. Of course, when King Herod the Great breaks the 4th wall, they won't really get to shake his hand, but once we get it live on an annual basis, watch out!
What are you hoping to achieve by being part of the Fringe?
This is our first fringe ever! We have already met so many wonderful people and made connections that we're beyond happy about! We ultimately want to take our shows live to Europe. We want to grow our brand and let the world enjoy our stories. The world is a better place with more theater in it! We have a pitch deck available for people to review and to use as a crowdfunding platform as well as to sign on investors.
What further plans do you have for the production after the Fringe?
For this show, A Night To Remember, we want to have it licensed so that venues around the globe can do it live. It's an annual event and can become a tradition to enjoy year after year! Also, we would like the 10 original songs to become Christmas songs played on the radio stations. Right now, we're in the early stages with siriusxm to get all of our music on their Broadway station.
